New Leisure and MICE Projects in Morocco

Morocco is actively enhancing its leisure and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sectors through several significant projects:

1. Grand Theatre of Rabat:

Designed by the late Zaha Hadid, the Grand Theatre of Rabat is a state-of-the-art performing arts center inaugurated on October 29, 2024. This venue features an 1,800-seat interior theater and a 7,000-seat open-air amphitheater, positioning Rabat as a central hub for cultural and MICE events. 

2. Taghazout Bay Development:

Located near Agadir, Taghazout Bay is a 615-hectare seaside resort under development. The project includes sports and leisure facilities such as a beach club, golf courses, tennis courts, and surf academies, aiming to attract both leisure tourists and MICE events.

3. Expansion of Casablanca's MICE Infrastructure:

Casablanca is investing in new projects to expand hotel capacity, develop transportation networks, and implement modern amenities while showcasing its rich heritage. The goal is to become a leading choice for MICE events in the coming years.

4. Royal Mansour's New Properties:

Royal Mansour, a prestigious resort brand in Morocco, has expanded with new properties in Casablanca and Tamuda Bay. These resorts offer luxurious accommodations and exceptional culinary experiences, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

5. High-Speed Rail Expansion:

Morocco is undertaking a significant expansion of its rail services, adding 2,300 miles of railway by 2040 and connecting 43 cities. This includes a high-speed rail line between Kenitra and Marrakech, reducing travel time between Tangier and Marrakech from seven hours to under three hours, enhancing accessibility for MICE events.

6. African Development Bank's Investment:

The African Development Bank has pledged $1 billion to Morocco, with a portion allocated for developing rail and airport infrastructure. This investment aims to support Morocco's preparations for the 2030 World Cup and boost tourism, including the MICE sector.

These initiatives reflect Morocco's commitment to enhancing its leisure and MICE offerings, positioning the country as a premier destination for international events.
