IFA 17th Global Conference on Ageing
On behalf of the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) and North-West University (NWU), it is with great pleasure that we extend a warm welcome to you to the 17th IFA Global Conference, hosted in partnership with a range of stakeholders here in Cape Town.
As one of the 26 public higher-education institutions in South Africa, NWU stands at the forefront of innovation and excellence in higher learning. We are committed to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and engaging with our communities.
Our strategic framework, “Taking the NWU forward – 2024 and beyond” aligns with the vision of the IFA in aiming to explore new frontiers and opportunities that benefit society, including both current and future generations of healthy older people. We continue to approach conference themes through the action areas and enablers of the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing.
Central to this vision is the commitment to manage demographic diversity comprehensively. This includes addressing cultural differences, age structures, diverse generations and gender identities to create an inclusive environment that celebrates the richness of the human experience.
As we gather here to deliberate, plan, and take action, we recognise the significance of our collective efforts in shaping a better future for current and future generations of older persons. This conference provides a vital platform for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and driving meaningful change.
